Oh, Nice Guys, what would we do without them? With their friendship on the basis that it will turn into something else, or their incessant complaints that women only like ‘Bad Boys’. It’s enough to make a girl swoon isn’t it? Don’t get me wrong, […]

It’s a frightening statistic, and honestly I’m rather confused. The Autism rate has more than doubled in the last few years. It’s double so quickly that the ‘older’ advertisements are still quoting the 1 in 1000 statistic. What happened? Well, the go-to source (The DSM) […]
In my recent post : Scientology Knows Better For You I talked about religious ‘groups’ denying children needed mediation based off a refusal to use modern medicine.
Anonymous made a good point:
Had this happened in the state of Oregon, the parents could be charged with negligent homicide, due to recently passed laws on withholding life saving medication from sick children. Also the scientology ritual known as the “purification rundown” uses large doses of niacin, which has the side effect of doing liver damage. Liver damage just happens to be the reason the Travolta’s stopped Jetts seizure medication
If you don’t know what niacin is I’m going to implore you to read about it. It’s a vitamin, which has actual medicinal uses. However, an overdose of it is an outright miserable thing. Anonymous brought something else to my attention (and also reminded me of the phrase used- thanks by the way.)
Another common thread with all the ‘religions’ that have the refusal of medicine is the variations of ‘treatment’ they do use. For someone with a mental illness these treatments can be outright psyche breaking.
Scientology outright neglects the needs of it’s followers. I’d also like to point you to the direction of Why Are they Dead? as far as I am aware this is the most comprehensive collection of the related tragedy that has befallen them.
Now, I am also aware that Scientology is similar with many ‘Christian’ extreme sects. I’m simply not aware of any comprehensive database on them.
Jett Travolta Scientology seems to be one of those either love it or hate it topics. The organization is rife with troubles and secrets of it’s own, seemingly aware of it all too. I know people generally need something to believe in, and religion tend […]
