Saturday Sickness: Mommy Instincts FTW*

Tylenol 3 - a compound of Tylenol and Codeine

Not fully relevant.

It seems every other Saturday has found me and Kiddo in her pediatrician’s office.  This just happened to be the one time that I’m far beyond relieved to have listened to my Mommy Senses ™.

Kiddo woke up yesterday looking like she was at the losing end of a fight, her eye was rather swollen.  Granted, not all together too bad- but it was obvious.  To be honest, I figured that she bumped it on something the day before and it would just go away.

Of course, by this point in the post it’s obvious it didn’t.

Today same thing- whole other ballgame.  It was almost swollen shut.  I wasn’t about to let some diagnosis of pink eye stay, so I Mommy psycho-ed convinced her doctors to see her(who I really do love, regardless of what that may have sounded like).  For the most part, things involving pinkeye the Dr’s would just rather the kids not come in and generally infect everyone else.

Which considering how common it is, is beyond understandable.

Now we’re home, and honestly I was freaking the hell out.  My bit of research has thankfully made me feel a lot better, but she is actually ‘sick’ this time.  Not pink-eye, although that actually sounds better (yes, I am being vague, apologies).

This is the first time she has ever needed anything beyond Tylenol.  Mommy isn’t handling that fact all too well.

I was wrong about her bumping it, and while I already knew that deep down– I’m just happy I listened to by gut feeling.  It’s treatable with an antibiotic at this stage.

Had I waited?  I don’t even want think about that.

I was almost the whole cliché** bubbling mush at the store waiting for her medication to be ready.  Save for the fact when I am nervous, I rant (Grandma*** is really awesome, and thankfully used to it).  I’m still a bit shaky, but better none the less.  I just have problems giving her any medications, even Tylenol (thank whomever for grandmas).

*For those not totally hip on internet lingo: For the win.

**Lies, I was the cliché bubbling of much at the store.

***Went with, which I owe her for.  Immensely.
