Apparently there’s a incredibly dumb ‘war’ brewing in Texas, the home of the ‘Everything is Bigger’ Slogan. When giving the choice to let gays and straights marry, they took their ball and went on home.
They accidentally banned all marriage. Technically they also showed no one really understands legalese too, but you know this post isn’t about that.
The question over the ban of matrimony and all I dos (although it may save it’s citizens a bunch in divorce fees) came after an attempt to ban gay marriage. The bill wasn’t written too concisely, so in the effort Texas has essentially managed to sweep it all off the table.
At least that’s what some people are arguing. Suffice it to say, some people are none to happy with the irony.
*golf clap*
"This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage."
One thing that is "identical…to marriage," of course, is marriage. And Texas Attorney General candidate Barbara Ann Radnofsky, a Democrat, is arguing that the current Attorney General, Republican Greg Abbott, made a "massive mistake" in allowing the language.
Now, I know it’s simply no secret that I’m pro-happyness for all. I am a gay rights supporter and think that the argument against is incredibly silly. While sure, this doesn’t bode well for gay marriage I do love some ironic twists.
This one here? Oh this is better than any funny movie.
However the best quote comes from Democrat Ann Radnofsky:
"You do not have to have a fancy law degree to read this and understand what it plainly says," she said, according to the Star-Telegram. She called on Abbott to acknowledge the error and consider apologizing.
I simply cannot resist saying: So, how do you like them apples?
