Layered Strawberry Creme Gummies
All things considered, I am a bit picky when it comes to satisfying my sweet tooth. I decided it was time, oh yes- It was time for something new.
I love strawberries and creme and gummy candy, so boredom struck with a touch of inspiration from instructables.com, and the only natural course of action was- Make Candy.
Okay, well sorta.
Considering the way my brain normally does this type of thing, this time at the very least made sense. Normally, I’d wind up with something more akin to some kind of super intensive project whose relative usefulness doesn’t really quantify the amount of time I spent making it.
What you need;
- Water
- 1 Package of regular Strawberry Jell-O Per Layer (For this exact one you’ll need 3)
- 3 Packages of Unflavored Gelatin (it comes in packages of 4) for each layer. (For this you’ll need 9)
- Couple spoonfuls of vanilla yogurt
- Orange Juice, Fizzy Strawberry Seltzer (or another king of juice, preferably something clear)
My goal was a layered effect (hence the flavoring with the seltzer, juice and yogurt.
Grab a pan to heat up the gelatin mixtures in, and a non-stick pan. (Use a non-stick pan as opposed to spraying a pan with oil. That’s actually the reason there’s those bubbles on top in the photos here.)
All you need to do whisk (or stir) the three batches over medium heat (about 2-5 minutes each) with the various things added into the base mix of one part Jell-O to three parts Unflavored.
To get the layered effect, darker juice on bottom, seltzer in the middle and yogurt on top.
Don’t bring to a boil- the heat just is there to help dissolve the powders into a liquid.
Add in about 1/3 cup water to each batch to dissolve the various gelatins.
After it’s dissolved, put in the juice of your choice.
Give it a quick stir and pour. Tilt the pan to spread it out, and just put it in the fridge until you pour the next layer.
Just keep doing it like that and put it back in the fridge for a bit (about an hour should be fine).
You’ll wind up with something like this:
Yum.. Looks like fish (yeck). Gummy is right (Yogurt) side up in the pic.
Cutting it up was so much fun (lie) flip it over so the bottom layer is on top, it’s much easier to cut that way. Mostly just due to the fact it set up the longest.
Cut them into whatever shape you feel like (I just did the ‘square’ thing.. aren’t I fascinating?)
After cutting them all up store them in the fridge and enjoy!
