Alterna Parenting!
I hate this term with a burning passion. I really do, and I’m considered an ‘alterna-mom’. Then again that’s also coming from the one who hates being called a mommy-blogger too (regardless if the damned definition fits or not), maybe I just take issue with labels? Can I pretend here? More than likely not.
Things now a days revolve around the label, it shows if you are ‘with something’ or ‘against it’ there’s not much middle road anymore. In life most seem to forget all the ‘grey area’. There is a ton of it, and while I’m not advocating fence sitting here I am telling people to remember there are different side to every story.
Criticizing something shouldn’t get you immediately labeled. It’s become ridiculous lately more so than I can ever recall. Perhaps it’s the bullshit political correctness? Perhaps we are just to damned oversensitive?
Hell, in the last week I’ve seen Goodwin’s Law invoked more than I can ever recall seeing it before. (Pro tip: Invoking Goodwin means you auto-lose.) I mean seriously people, what the hell?!
Although any sort of reasonable discourse is subjected to racism or being an anti-”insertwhatdebateisoverhere“. C’mon people, what happened to the art of debate? If I’m going to waste my time to only in the end be called something silly what’s the point of wasting my time?
Just because someone doesn’t agree with you I’m sure ever so finely tuned views doesn’t mean they are anti – anything. Those who criticize Obama aren’t necessarily racist. Just as those who criticize Israel aren’t necessarily anti-Semitic.
Common sense isn’t that common at all is it?
