A Blog About a Girl, Life, and Ranting

Post ID: 70

From an article by Joel Stein (1/24/06) in the LA Times:

The real purpose of those ribbons is to ease some of the guilt we feel for
voting to send them to war and then making absolutely no sacrifices other
than enduring two Wolf Blitzer shows a day. Though there should be a ribbon
for that.

I like this article quite a bit in fact. I’m not just speaking as a civilian, I’m speaking as a military wife/ daughter (‘Cause you know that gives me a whole lotta some kind of ‘cred heh). I know that it does take some guts to post up something that unpopular, and I give many, many kudos to him for that. It only unfortunate that I just found this op-ed piece.

I’m posting this up in good faith that others can see the very valid points he’s making (which tie into a lot of points I’ve been trying to make, so yes a little self serving).
